Downing Centre Local Court

Represented by solicitor: Robert Hoyles

Facts: Our client was charged with a serious offence that carried a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment had the DPP decided to deal with it in the District Court.  He was reporting to a police station every day as part of his bail conditions.

Result:  The police served the evidence very late and our solicitor negotiated with the police to accept a plea of guilty to the lesser charge of Intimidation.  On the charge of Intimidation, our solicitor made sentencing submissions and the matter was dismissed under Section 10 with a good behaviour bond, meaning that he arrived at court facing a potential gaol sentence and left the court without a criminal conviction.
